Hey guys,
Just wanted to touch base with you tonight to let you know we are all ok. Please feel free to pass this info along to the church. We were able to get all of the donated materials and even our own stuff down here with no problems. When we arrived, New Missions missionaries were there to meet us in trucks. We loaded the back of 2 of them with our stuff and the rest with people. There are 61 people here this week for the missions from different churches around the country. There were benches in the back of the truck but it was still pretty intense missionary type stuff.
We were taken directly to a distribution tent where we separated our stuff for donations. All of the clothes our church donated for specific families was set aside and will be delivered personally by my friend who is a Pastor down here. We may get to meet some of the families as well. There were a lot of supplies and I believe we will be well equipped for VBS. Also at the distribution tent, Jess befriended a dog whom she named DR Mangy.
Tomorrow, we will be going to an English Speaking service and then VBS Training. Our accommodations are much nicer then I expected. We are right on the ocean and even some of our rooms have a view of the beach. With that being said though as we drove in, we could see some of the poverty stricken areas we will be working in and are reminded of our many blessings.
Tonight in our Advent Team devotions we talked about The Holy Spirit and were challenged to listen for his guidance this week. Pray that we could be uses in the lives of the people here, pray that the people will be used in our lives, and pray that this experience can be shared in your lives when we return. Thanks. Clearly, you were relieved to immediately part-with your excess luggage to deliver the items you brought – a goal already accomplished!
